Dark Corners

Darkness lurks
In an idle mind
Trying to rest
No peace of mind
In an instant
I've died another time
What did me in
Now controls me
The fears I have
Are just imaginary
Hold on too tight
Can't get loose
Try to relax
Mayhem ensues
A vicious circle
A web I've weaved
A hall of mirrors
Don't like what I see

Another day

I've died a million times

And still I breathe

I keep faith in myself

Thankful for who believes in me

It gives me strength

And the will to push on

With smiles to hide behind

My Darkness

I know the darkness of my plight
It's been with me most of my life
Visions that got the best of me
That made decisions because I believed
This is the journey that has made my life
In darkness I lived I tried to survive
Reckless at times Was tempted by many
Tried to do right by my life Couldn't find any
A destructive path I laid
My life A game being played
But alas My heart grew stronger
A puppet to the darkness no longer
I want to live and seek the Light
I'll continue to fight the good fight
The darkness won't let me be
It's got a hold and makes me bleed
Taking what life there is in me
It clouds my thoughts Makes it hard to see
Why I'm thankful having you in my life
You help guide me providing light
But in the crosshairs I am
From dark to light I dance
There is no true side of me
So I share hope you'll help me believe

The Path ...

The Path we walk is 
A path We should choose
The Path always darkens 
When We turn it loose
Not a matter of control
But a matter of Choice
The decision is yours
Always use your Voice
You'll compromise stability
If you throw Caution to the wind
Not that you shouldn't
Just know when
Mistakes will be made
Make them of your choosing
Don't be lead down a path
It's you who'll be losing
Mistakes are lessons
Which are meant to correct
Not to dwell upon
Or become Life's regrets
There are those who'll help you
With kindness shown
No need for anger
Nor go it alone
You can change course
With any step you take
You can be a better person
You just need to keep Faith

I look back at my past 
And wonder no more
I walked a path 
To which I was born
The gifts of passion
Of that I've learned
The lessons of Kindness
To which I've earned
I'm my mother's son
I'm much like my father
I'm a product of them
Mentored by others
I am me
like no other
like my mom and dad
Number six, third brother 
I learn to grow
And share with whom I can
I have Faith in my future
Thankful for who I am

Twenty years back
Things were different
Twenty years forward
Things won't be the same
Some have five year plans
And search for better ways
Some just simply wake up
And are Thankful for the day
Somewhere life starts living
It's Meaning, Purpose, and Path
Give way for any reasoning
Mindful it no longer asks
Deeds are done for the sake of
We do what needs to be done
All of this will happen
Just share and have fun

Do you need your eyes

And what to do
What to ask
More importantly, who
So many answers
For the wrong question asked
Like Destination to Journey
The Goal is to the Task
To achieve is a matter
To succeed a perception of tests
To do what matters
Is to do your best
To what are you beholden
To thy self be true
Pain once felt
Does not mean doom
Get up to fall down
Try and try again
Hesitation creates confusion
And so it begins
The Heart knows where
The Mind plays and says when
Clear your Mind of thoughts
Allow the Heart to win

Don't ask me for compassion
When you offer none in return
Don't speak to me of tolerance
When every word you speak burns
Don't seek from me assistance
When you act as spoils do 
Don't attack my being of kindness
When you've mistakenly thought I'm a fool

To those I've help and have turned
There's no second bite of the apple
Once burned, twice shy
This is only natural
Character matters
it's louder than words
It matters not what is spoken
What matters is what's heard

I count my blessings daily
Thankful for all in my life
If you harbor evil intents

Now

It may seem I'm looking at the past
I am more embracing the future
The lesson to learn is we are stronger
The perspective we have is not the only view
We can all choose to be positive
We can choose to be kind without being rude
I may remember my past as lessons
For a better future is what I choose
We should be enjoying this and every moment
It is this which we all abuse.
Life is in the moments
Choose to live in it rather than make it what we lose

I know my brother loved us
Hard to say who loved who more
He did so much for all of us
Wish I would have done more
